Dockets vs order management platforms

Dockets focuses on small manufacturers managing repeat trade orders from customer to dispatch. RoundSorted centres on delivery rounds; Open Pantry covers wholesale food ordering and fulfilment. Katana, MRPeasy and Zoho Inventory cover broader production, inventory or shipping needs. Choose around the work your team actually does.

It owns the work between the order and the doorstep

Dockets is designed around the daily flow of a small maker selling to restaurants, retailers and distributors.

Dockets, RoundSorted and Open Pantry

These tools overlap on repeat customer orders but solve different operational problems. RoundSorted brings rounds and drivers together. Open Pantry combines supplier ordering with wider picking, inventory and accounting. Dockets keeps customer, order, preparation and dispatch work in one focused workspace.

Prices and tax treatment vary by provider and region. Open Pantry’s Australian price is not a UK quote. Its pricing FAQ gives Pro order volume bands despite an unlimited orders label in its grid. Confirm your regional price, limits and tax treatment before buying. Not confirmed means we did not establish the feature from the checked sources, not that it is unavailable.

When RoundSorted makes sense

Your business runs repeat rounds and needs load lists, customer skips, invoices and driver access. Compare its customer and van limits against your own operation, rather than comparing the subscription alone. Dockets does not optimise routes or track drivers.

When Open Pantry makes sense

You supply food and drink and need customer ordering alongside picking, inventory and accounting sync. Check which features need Pro and how your monthly order volume affects the quote. Dockets offers invoicing CSV exports for Xero and QuickBooks, not live sync.

Your problem is order and dispatch clarity

  • You sell repeatedly to restaurants, retailers or distributors
  • Your team needs one shared weekly view of what is going out
  • You want customer prices, standing orders and private order links
  • You need jobsheets, delivery notes and traceability details without an ERP
  • You want unlimited team members at one clear workspace price

Your problem starts before production or after dispatch

  • You need bills of materials, ingredient demand or material requirements planning
  • You need purchase orders, supplier management or product costing
  • You run several warehouses with bins, barcode scanners or complex transfers
  • You need carrier labels, rate shopping or deep ecommerce channel sync
  • You want accounting, invoicing and payments inside the same system

When each alternative makes more sense

Katana

Choose Katana when production planning is central. Its bills of materials, manufacturing orders, inventory and connected sales channels cover a wider operation than Dockets, with a higher starting cost and more setup.

MRPeasy

Choose MRPeasy when you want a small manufacturing ERP. It reaches into scheduling, purchasing, costing, CRM and shop floor reporting, and its per user pricing reflects that wider scope.

Zoho Inventory

Choose Zoho Inventory when stock, warehouses, sales channels and shipping carriers matter more than a weekly production and dispatch board. It is especially relevant if you already use the wider Zoho suite.

What to know before you choose

Does Dockets replace an ERP?
No. Dockets deliberately focuses on trade customers, orders, preparation paperwork and dispatch. If you need material requirements planning, purchasing, ingredient costing or shop floor routing, choose a manufacturing platform such as Katana or MRPeasy.
Can I bring my existing spreadsheets?
Yes. Import customers and products from CSV, review the suggested column mapping and preview the rows before anything is saved. You can skip or update duplicates.
What happens as my business grows?
Dockets includes unlimited customers, products, orders and team members. Add staff permissions, customer price lists, standing orders and stock alerts as you need them. If growth creates a need for purchasing, bills of materials or warehouse automation, a fuller system may become the better fit.
How difficult is switching from spreadsheets?
Import your basic lists, add or import current orders, then use the weekly board as the shared view for preparation and dispatch. Setup time depends on how much data you bring and how much needs cleaning.
